DON’T Press Rewind…

 Within our subconscious, it’s so much easier to contemplate over the past….


What we could have done, what we could have said, where we could have gone, how we could have handled a situation… but let’s think. If there’s no room for mistakes, would we ever be able to learn anything? 


A child has to learn how to walk, but if they don’t crawl, how would they develop their motor skills? If the child doesn’t fall, will they learn how to get back up? Everything is a learning experience, as well as a process. We all have to learn lessons whether they seem good or bad, they’re all teaching us how to accept our own choices and grow from them; so we can change and heal within. 


Past romantic relationships, past friendships, past jobs, past family members, past memories; they’re all reflections of the level of healing we are experiencing. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, which is why we have to continue to heal every part of ourselves daily. Mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, financially; all aspects are what motivates us within our journey. 

Continuing to focus on anything or anyone from the past only stagnates your ability to grow. You cannot change the past which is why there’s also a present and future. What we may feel is irreversible, can make us invincible. What we may feel we were incapable of, can make us unstoppable. Boundaries are needed for not only others within your life, but for yourself as well. 


It’s easiest for us to blame others for our incompetence, but what did you learn about yourself in the process? Instead of, “Why is this happening to me?” Ask yourself, “What is this teaching me?” Instead of saying, “I wish I can change the past.”; tell yourself, “I’ve learned from the past, I can change now.” Healing requires a lot of accountability; victimization only leads you into self destruction. 


When it comes to people or situations from the past, we have to learn to let it go. What do I mean by, let it go? I don’t mean to just forget about it, because we’re not meant to just forget. This is why we have various emotions, we’re meant to feel every one of them. In reference to me saying, let it go, the main goal is to do just that; feel all of your emotions.


Give yourself permission to cry, give yourself permission to be angry, give yourself permission to be sad, give yourself permission to be aggravated, give yourself permission to grieve, give yourself permission to be happy, give yourself permission to feel joy, give yourself permission to be excited, give yourself permission to be proud, give yourself permission to smile, give yourself permission to celebrate; just give yourself permission to feel everything…


The past will never define whom you are; no matter what it is. We learn from the past because that’s whom we ONCE were, not whom you’ll always be. Stepping stones have to start with the first step in order to climb up. Keep faith in you. Love on you. Appreciate you. Healing is daily, and growth is infinite…
